Fr. Bill Receives International Award
Kellogg’s “Hannah Neil World of Children Award”
Gives Children a Voice
Humbled and heartened to be recognized internationally for his work on behalf of children, Fr. William Wasson received the Kellogg’s Hannah Neil World of Children Award in Columbus, Ohio, on December 8, 2000. Named after a 19th century Columbus philanthropist, the award was created three years ago to help raise up the voices of the world’s largest minority, its children. One of six finalist, Fr. Bill received the top prize of $100,000, which will be used for the general needs of all the children in the NPH homes.
“I am very grateful and touched by the goodness of people with such deep concern for children suffering in the third world,” stated Fr. Bill in a recent television interview. “Receiving this award is heart moving.”
Fr. Bill’s picture appeared on a special edition of 5,000 Kellogg’s Corn Flakes boxes, along with award honorary chairman Muhammad Ali. The Kellogg Company, with distribution centers worldwide, has also offered to supply the homes with cereal for the children.
